Spash!

After Emma's morning swimming lesson, we would occasionally stick around and spend some time splashing in the wadding pool.  Anderson Pool has great water features for little ones.

Minnow Girl

Emma passed her swim test and will move up to the "minnow" level!  She had a lot of fun in the water and was an excellent listener for her instructor.

Swimming Lessons

Emma took swimming lessons for the first time this summer.  Her coach was a high school girl and she worked with just Emma and one other little boy during the 30-minute sessions for eight evenings. On "Diving Board Day," Emma was the most eager to take the plunge.  In fact, she scaled the ladder and made her way to the end of the board before her coach, Olivia, was out there to help catch her!  Way to go, girl!

4th of July - Part 2

After lunch we enjoyed the shade over the pool. Emma has a special bond with Donnie the dolphin. He isn't a ride-on toy, but Emma sure tries her best to balance on him. Scott and I have to hold the float and Emma as we move around the pool, and it's quite a show. I didn't include any of those pictures for good reason. Relaxing on the real rafts and tubes was a lot of fun. As you can see, swimming can really make a girl hungry.

A Big Splash!

This spring we knew it was time to give up the night-time pacifier once and for all, though we had been trying for a year. So Scott and I decided to give Emma an incentive. Every night she slept without it, she earned a little pool toy, which would lead to the big prize--a Disney Cars swimming pool for the backyard. Ever since she caught a glimpse of it in the store, she just had to have it. (Surprisingly, she had never seen the Cars movie and didn't know the characters.) So when it sold out in early June, we were on a major hunt. No other pool compared to this one according to Emma, so we ordered it from the one available retailer online. (Well, we had made a promise.) I'm happy to report that the pacifier is long gone, and Emma loved every cold-water minute of her pool time!

A Chilly Swim

During a visit to Decatur last week, I had the great idea of getting into the pool. The water was chilly after several days of below-average August temps, but Emma didn't seem to mind. She had a great time trying to catch debris in the water with the skimmer and playing with the beach balls.

Like a Fish to Water

Although it took her a few minutes to warm up to the idea of being in the pool, Emma thoroughly enjoyed her first "swim" a few days ago at Grammy and Grandpa Schultz's house. In an attempt to escape the 88+ degrees of our home, we ventured to Decatur for several days until the AC was repaired. Our time in the pool was so much fun! Emma loved the beach balls and floating in her raft.
