Cars (And Trucks) - Part 2

Letter & Letter Sound Recognition Game - I called out a letter or letter sound for this game. Emma used pom poms to cover the spaces.

Tracing Lines - The Crayola Dry Erase Crayons work great on these laminated worksheets. It easily wipes off with the included black mitt or a damp paper towel for repeated practice.

Numbers - Emma practiced counting using pom poms, tracing the numbers 1 - 5, and drawing lines to match the number with the visual representation.

Cars (And Trucks) - Part 1

Another one of Emma's big interests this summer was cars and trucks. We read many books and I found several activities based on her current favorite movie (the only real movie she's ever seen) Cars. Visit 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 and Our Little Monkeys for the resources.

Uppercase & Lowercase Mm - We used pom poms and then Playdough to form the letters M and m.

Shapes - I read and showed Emma the shape word (hexagon), and she found the matching card. It obviously helped review shapes, but I liked that it also focused on word recognition.

Shadow Match - We mixed up the 12 cards and then Emma looked at the outline of the original Cars' character to locate it's matching shadow.

Go Raiders!

We took Emma to a Raiders football game on faculty night. We were all decked out in our Raider gear. Emma's shirt said, "A Raider in Training" on the back. The administrators held a tailgate for the teachers and their families before the game with bag toss games, glow jewelry, and a balloon artist. Emma asked for a Nemo creation. It was super cute, but the twister made a lot of neat things for the kids (and adults). We stayed through half-time, but Emma wasn't ready to go. She had so much energy, even though it was her bedtime. We still had to go home and take a bath . . . plus, Scott and I were exhausted from our work week. I guess we tuckered out before our three-year-old!

Fancy Furniture

The big girl furniture was delivered just a few weeks after we ordered it. It is gorgeous! We are really pleased, and Emma digs it as well. The next step will be getting new bedding. It's not easy to find little girl ensembles in queen.

Ace of Cakes

Emma thoroughly enjoys time helping out in the kitchen. She gets so excited with the simplest tasks like making a boxed cake. She doesn't have a sweet tooth. So Scott and I try to eat it by ourselves within a week!
