Little Lambies
When I was a little girl, I had a stuffed lamb that I carried everywhere. Her name was Lamby. After many years of love, she looks a little worse for wear, but I still have her! This past weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Schultz surprised us with a new Lamby for Supergirl. I know she will love hers as much as I love mine!

Daddy's Girl Already
Our little lady has already won over her daddy! He calls her Supergirl and more recently has nicknamed her Little Ninja because of all her powerful kicks. When we registered for baby items, Daddy made sure things weren’t too gender neutral. Scott insisted on pink and flowery for quite a few items. Here is a onesie he had to have right away pictured with an Easter bunny from Auntie Janenne!

Friendly Advice
Last week I asked some of my mommy friends to share their advice on everything from bottles to diapers to medicines. Dr. Brown’s, Advent, or Platex Drop-ins? Pampers or Huggies? Diaper Genie, Diaper Champ, or a small trash can? Is a bassinet necessary? Will we need a bottle warmer or infant positioner?
They were so kind to take the time to write back with honest and detailed thoughts. They definitely gave me a lot to consider. However, their experiences with their own children were so varied. I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no “one-size-fits-all” best product or practice. As many of the girls said, it really depends on what works for your baby and you. It’s trial and error, I guess. But the veteran mommies set me on the right path. Thanks, gals!

A Final Decision on Furniture
We found a cherry crib, dresser, and changing table that we love at Target. However, we have been waiting to see if it will go on sale, since we saw it on sale back in January. The crib will convert to a toddler bed and full-size headboard. Isn’t that handy!

Planning Ahead
We will need to sign up for a prepared childbirth education class through the hospital soon. Fun, but scary! They suggest Kristen be at 32 weeks or more before attending, so it looks like we’ll be aiming for the mid-May weekend class. They also offer evening classes from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. for a few consecutive weeks, but we are going to tackle it on Kristen’s birthday weekend. They offer a few other classes we will register for as well. We are getting closer to becoming parents every day!

Picking Out Patterns
Don’t you just LOVE this “Sugar Plum” bedroom! We have registered for many of these items at Babies ‘R’ Us. It is soooo girly! We have also settled on a set of cherry furniture, but are waiting for a possible sale since we have some time. It looks similar to the furniture in this picture. We are thinking of going with a crib, small dresser, and changing table. Our plan is to clear out one of our guest rooms over Spring Break. Kristen’s parents are coming to help with painting and moving furniture. Here we go!

Baby Fact #4 and Update
Did you know? Pregnant women are hungry! According to BabyCenter.com, expectant moms should eat when they’re hungry . . . which means non-stop. During my first trimester, I read that I should only increase my caloric intake by 100 calories a day. Now I’ve learned that during the second trimester I should get 300 extra calories a day. YEAH! I suspect they should be “healthy” calories, however, . . . so I cannot justify ice cream sundaes every night.
It’s week 24! We had another appointment today with our doctor and had a good report. We heard the heartbeat again—156 beats per minute! This past week we discovered that she loves to move, especially to music. We saw a high school musical on Saturday—Big River. During Sunday’s church services we had a guest cellist, the handbell choir performed two songs, and the congregation sang several hymns with the organ. She enjoyed it all! Do we have a future musician on our hands? Well, maybe it’s just a coincidence.

High-Five for Daddy
Earlier this week Scott felt his little girl for the first time! While I’ve been aware of her movements for the last few weeks, they weren’t strong enough for others to notice. On Wednesday night I had Scott put his hand on my tummy for probably the fifth time since I had first felt her. Typically Scott would appease me for 10-20 seconds and never feel anything. This time I told him to wait for at least 1 minute, but it only took 10 seconds! Scott’s eyes were so huge. He even said, “WHOA!” (Not like Joey on that 90s show Blossom, though. It was a sincere response!) We think she was giving daddy a high-five!

Five-Month Picture
Kristen is getting a little bigger every day. Here she is at five months. She is really enjoying all of the changes and anticipating the joys Supergirl will bring.
